It's time for a new release candidate.

--------------
- Change Log -
--------------

0.5.3b RC9 (build #326) (06/30/2011)
------------------------------------

--- Logger ---
- log4j.properties updated with new name for romraider.log --> rr_system.log
- new logger field to allow arbitrary text to be added to log file name (right-click on field for options)
- Tech Edge plugin updates
- PLX plugin update to ignore unsupported data items
- Innovate MTS plugin updated to ignore unsupported data items
- Logging data error handling improved and hang condition eliminated
- Logging performance improved (fast poll works on at least one 16 bit ECU so far)
- Log file field value delimiter changed from comma to semicolon when values use comma as decimal place holder
- Start of support for international numbers and text

Please download it and give it a workout!

Installed this morning and took a brief trip to get coffee. Clicked fast polling and am getting about 17 queries/sec on the same daily driving logger profile that I normally get just over 4 queries on.. Very nice!

Only complaint (very minor one at that) is on my screen (low res) I can no longer see the "reading"/"connecting" indicators. In the past this was an easy way to determine if the logger had stopped logging. I'm not sure if these were removed or if they're just not showing on my screen.

Yes the real-estate in the control bar is expensive. I use a 7" screen and half the status message is hidden. I'm open to suggestions as to how to handle or where to move the status message pane.

Get rid of the text and just have an indicator? Yellow/orange for connecting, blue for reading and perhaps green for logging?

That's easy. Here's a build with the text part removed. Just replace the RomRaider.jar with the one attached.

I wasn't able to get a proper screenshot easily as the Dinovo mini keyboard I use doesn't seem to have a function for that defined.

I did get the blue/green indicator to show up though it covers the "logfile text" check box. I'm not sure what the "logfile text" switch does, but if there were a way to describe it with less chars (just 'text' maybe) I think everything would fit on the lower res screens.

Either way, awesome release here. I've never gotten a 10k logfile for a 3rd gear wot pull where all the data was useful.

What screen/computer are you using and at what resolution?
I've got a Xenarc at 800x480 and it is not as cramped as your screen.

It means faster queries of the ECU if supported, as mentioned 16bit ECU's have not been tested.
You are free to experiment as you see fit and report back what you find, good or bad.
So try it out and let us know what you find.

That's the OEM NAV screen on an 08 Spec b. It's running 640x480. 800x600 works as well but due to the composite input, makes for horrible readability on any of the smaller numbers.

So you need more vertical space rather than horizontal to wrap the extra components below the COM port selection etc...
I'll have to look into wrapping around the control bar.
If you are never going to add arbitrary text to your log file names, then you don't really need the Logfile Text field to display.

It's probably a non issue since most people won't be running so low a resolution. If anything I'd consider shortening "Auto Refresh" maybe just to "AR" and "Logfile Text" to "LogTxt".

Or better yet, move some of those non-daily use options to the Settings menu listing.
