ecutek somehow had access to the ecu before the car was released...

I had access to a BRZ in February, even drove it.

Car magazines being released right know had the articles written months ago :) I used to be a car magazine journalist ;)

Throttlehappy,
Would this have been outside Australia?

I had it on good authority that the cars only landed in Australia in the first week on February, and that there were none registered in Australia until March 1st..

Or did you have access to the wharf??

Check rexnet on where I was last week of February...tuning flysti's Forester in Sydney :)

I already posted on why the BRZ has such a huge drop of torque on the dyno too, cam overlap is causing reversion which does not exist on the street due to the ramp rates being used. I bet every dyno tuner will spend months trying to tune the torque drop out to find it runs like crap on the street!

So has anybody written a def so the brz can be tuned other than using ecutek? I would gladly send some cash to one of the few on hear capable of getting ecuflash to work on this car.

If I can get a hex, I will happily put a definition together (nearly done with the XV already).

Hey there Throttlehappy, you ready to post the ROM yet?
I have some good software guys here that are prepared to invest a couple of weeks into pulling the ROM apart and giving it back to the community 8)

Subaru have changed the ECU in the 86 atleast for official release. The ROM I had is not compatible.

I am waiting on local dealer to get a BRZ in to confirm it looks like the 86 ROM.

Subaru re-engineered the ECU to an SH7059 and SSM III between supplying the press cars and releasing to dealers? Thats out there!

I dont think so. I think that the algo (ecu logic) may have changed at the last minute. So new code and new table possibly.. or some stuff removed... I guess..

Aussie EcuTek dealers had issues on first release(S&J should confirm Martin) but was fixed within 24 hours

I just need a new BRZ to confirm it is the same ECU logic as the new 86.

I think so.
SH7058 is old-fashioned stuff. It is quite difficult to get any support on these by renesas.
SH7059 is used on diesel ECU from beginning MY2010, so also no very new. Also "new" SSM-III protocol.

Logically we have to expact SH7059 controller, if there is still a Denso ECU used, maybe newer one..

What I don´t unterstand:
there are guys out there, who try to pull ROM, but if this is not suggessfull, noone try to communicatate via SSM to try to read measurement value to test, if there is SSM-III protocoll used.

So ECUtek manage to re-map a stock car ?
So what is the problem to communicate witch controler is used and witch SSM-protocoll ?
IF there is actucal diesel one, only ECUtek is able used OBD, all other need to read via AUD and SHBootMode.

So still adavance by ECUtek and no need to "hide" informations

Not the one I saw (FT86). No KLine populated. Didn't respond to SSM init request over CAN.
Wasn't 7059 either, 7153 IIRC (1280kb). Still SH.

No car under test\no ecu observed\AUD not implemented for the first reading and communication protocol disclosure ??

As far as I understand there is no much interest in the community currently. Just about the same as fas as 4EAT/5EAT TCU's are concerned.

Ok, thanks for giving this infos.
To have no responce of a Toyota car to a Subaru diagnosic request is nothing I really wounder about. But the test itself has to be done of cause.
No K-line popolated looks like only CAN diagnosic.
I do not realy expacte the same diagnosic at Toyota and Subaru, but we will see.

So we got more car, witch needs more protocol in RomRaider, if RR will support.

Ok, so 7059 is also "old-fashioned" meentime..
If it is still SH, AUD and SHBootmode (generic) should work

Hopefully not !

IF RomRaider will still support newer and comming cars, something has to be done.
AUD-Reading IMO is one of the easyest way to go, SHBootmode is supported be free Renesas SW.

To wait for ECUflash supporting newer cars is a waste of time. Nothing new since autumn of 2010.

Is this "silant death" of opensource tuning ?

Hopefully not :!:
