This ROM is awesome! The adjustment capabillity of the LC/NLTS etc. is awesome. UTEC didn't have much adjustment...

Playing with Ignition cut LC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6T4FiEeGXY

Question about NLTS.... I have the wiring already hooked to my clutch pedal switch from using a UTEC. SO all I need to do is ground out E1 with that switch? I have an 07 us sti 6 speed, guessing I was going to use the inverted E1 setting on the ROM. Just checking on that.... thanks!!

is it possible to get a vehicle speed threshold for NLTS?

i am currently running LC and NLTS. when stopped, in 1st gear, with the clutch on the floor, if i give it a some throttle the LC works fine. if i go beyond the throttle angle necessary to enable NLTS (i have it set to 90) then NLTS clamps the rev limit to a much lower value (basically the minimum NLTS rpm value).

obviously this is not the desired outcome. it seems to me that a simple speed threshold would be the easiest way to prevent NLTS from kicking in when LC should be active.

todd: i JUST did this this past weekend.

take your wires from the clutch switch that are currently connected to the utec. one goes to ground, the other to the clutch sense pin on the utec's accessory molex connector. when i hooked mine up i used the ground pin on that same connector, so i think it was pins 4 and 5.

make sure one side of the switch goes to ground. eventually i will probably pull the utec so i crimped on an eyelet terminal and grounded it through one of the ecu mounting screws.

the other side of the switch goes to your ecu input pin. i used E1, the TID pin. it is black/red.

in this topology set the NLTS input to e1, inverted.

that's it! :)

I brought up the same issue a few weeks back. It was embarrassing when i tried to demonstrate... :(

Thanks Ken!!!

Think I'll hook it up tonight

Hmmm....

Might have to do things like the UTEC for a while, raise the minimum NLTS rpm value up to where you want things for the shift?

For example my LC is set to 6100 now, probably will never exceed 6300ish.. but I will be shifting in the 7400-7500 area, so I might be able to get away with setting the NLTS up in the same area. Next question is, if the minimum NLTS rpm is higher than the LC rpm, which will it stop at during LC??

Either way your right, a speed threshold would fix this completely!

As far as additons to the ROM. How hard would it be to trigger a blinking CEL based off coolant temp? Just curious.. I have some mini pro-light's I could hook up for a warning, but this would be slick!

Thanks,

Todd

I personally would go with the way many proprietary standalone manufacturers do it

LC Enable Below: 10kph
NLTS Enable Above: 5kph

Or other similar user-adjustable values. An interesting way is how some determine if you've put the clutch in or are in neutral. They look at the RPM/Speed ratio and if it deviates from any of the gears for more than say, 100-200ms, cut power until it matches a gear again for a similar time period. This is useful for cars which lack a clutch switch.

Tested NLTS tonight....

Tested it by revving with the clutch in, sure enough it's hitting the NLTS fuel cut limiter and not my ignition cut LC limiter... but I set the NLTF rpm limit to 6200 just to test.

Set my trans as USDM (because my 07 6 spd is a US trans...

Did a WOT 3-4 shift and NLTS didn't work... logger showed 8000rpms  (I shift at 7400-7500ish)

Oooopppss... feel bad for my motor with only 550miles lol.

Changed my trans logic to JDM in the misc section, just for fun. And now it's working! Did a 2-3 WOT and shifted this time at 7200 just in case and it worked, so I made a few shifts this way and logger showed only a few psi of drop between gears. Working well, and pretty smooth.

We definitely need a way to disable it below a certain speed though, gotta have ignition cut LC

I'm going to make a fix and send it to you and Ryan to test, should have it done by Thursday. I'll also include ignition cut option for nlts

exams next week, after that I should be able to knock out most of these requests :)

^^^ Btw, do you have a JDM ecu?

Sweet!! looking forward to it!!

Thanks!!!

EDIT: I have a USDM ecu (factory 02)

Great.
I did not test NLTS and CL yet, but I'm going to test it at this weekend. I would be glad to test new version of NLTS.

make sure you verify your speed units. log them for a few pulls, average the values, and plug those in.

I was playing with this before I tried it.... interestingly enough, when I had the calculated gear parameter up on the logger, it showed I was in 6th gear all the time until I changed the logic to JDM 6 spd lol! Now it showes accurately what gear I'm in. I pulled a stock 07 rom and copied the gear values from that just to start out with, and so far it appears to be accurate?

i think that has to do with the neutral position sensor state.
