Hi all. Sorry for the lack of updates. I just haven't had enough free time to work on it as of late. As such, my plan for the next revision is to add the ability for the user to add their own definitions to LV via an external xml file. The idea is that LV won't require this file to run with the existing definitions, but it will parse it if it exists and add the new ECUs defined or override an existing ECU definitions (such as for a custom ROM as Carbibbles was asking about). I'll still update the compiled definitions for LV, but maybe on a more realistic time-scale for me (such as 3 to 4 times a year). Any thoughts are welcome.

Cheers for the update.

Have you considered perhaps open-sourcing the application? It would make it much easier for people to adapt it to their own purposes without troubling you.

I was hoping someone would add the same type of functionality as LV to RomRaider. It wouldn't seem very difficult to do this - the bones are already there in RomRaider -> table/logger definitions, ability to display data in a table format, ECU comms, etc. I think that would make the most sense. There's not much else that can be added to LV to make any significant impact, so going through the process of making this open source would probably not be worth it. The problem lies really in just adding new ECU support, which hopefully will be solved by adding definitions that can be defined by the end-user.

It's true. Opensourcing is not a must.
I had to do this for ecuFlash.

I'd be glad to do that for you if it's too much trouble. C# forms app, right? No commercial libraries?

Or even just add definition functionality... I have a bunch of LINQ parsing stuff written. Either way let me know if you want help with it.

vb 2010.

I think that if I ever get to the point that I don't want to mess with it anymore, I'll just throw it up somewhere. For now, I still like tinkering it myself.

I had actually started to do this. I had the layout complete and just about to develop to live reading and the computer I was working on had a HD crash and I lost it all. Needless to say I didn't restart it. But it is still on my todo list, but with no ETA.

:-( BUT: That won't happen again! :-) Hooray for temporary branches and distributed version control! <3 Git.

So glad to hear that I might be able to use this on my new STI - I used it extensively on other cars and it's a great tool.

Whenever I open LV, a log appears on the desktop as a Notepad file. Is there any way to stop this or have the log appear somewhere else?

You could put LV inside a folder on the desktop... that's what I do. Then my LV, log and all my screenshots are inside one folder rather than on the desktop.

How about a settings file (or, gasp, registry entry) that says where to store output files. Set it once, store the app where ever, get logs where you want them.

read error, read error, rear error!!

WFT am i doing wrong? I've used this program plenty of times(with success) on my 03sti, now it doesn't matter in what order connections and programs are opened/connected, everytime it's "read error - see log for details"

Also, does learning view show all timing being pulled from total timing or no?

Logs show -2.11 being pulled in various places(usually midrange @ moderate loads) which i thought wouldn't be enough to notice but i do a reset and the car goes from being a doughy pig to a snappy ball tearer, like when it was tuned. Is this likely to be the pulled timing or more likely to be doughy learned fuel correction?

This program only seems to be Vista/7 compatible, is that correct? When trying to run this in XP I get an error.
