Hello Folks My first post here and I'd like to share one of the maps I have been running on my 02 USDM EJ205 WRX. Mods for this map are as follows: Ported/polished exhaust manifolds Ported STI uppipe Ported/polished JDM WRX TD04HL-15T Turbocharger with enlarged wastegate opening Prodrive BCS V7 JDM STI TMIC with FORGE tunable recirc BOV Deatchswerks 565 injectors Coolant bypass PDE 3" Catted DP taper to 2.5" 2.5" Stromung midpipe 60mm OEM USDM STI axleback 93 Octane Fuel This tune was made for a car equipped with the slightly bigger JDM 15T turbo. The flow is about 10% greater than the standard JDM 13T. My best result is 260/280 WHP/WTQ on a 70 degree day According to Airboys LFI. This map works great for me and is crazy quick. On hot days I add a gallon of Xylene to a full tank for extra insurance against knock. 22 psi is a lot of boost to run but it holds well from 3,300 just past 4,400. For the standard 13T turbo I would shorten the peak boost period and taper the boost more sharply to around 12-13 psi at redline. This would allow some timing to be added depending on your setup. Higher volume injectors are mandatory for the USDM 13T in my opinion. You will Push past 90% IDC with the stockers and that is outside of my comfort level. A low cost option is increased fuel pressure and adjust the injector scale.

I've always been interested in the 15T. What are your peak and redline engine loads like? Do you hold 15 psi at 7000 rpm? What kind of MAFv do you see? I'd love to see a log if you have one handy. Thanks |

Here is an early log from this tune. Got a bit of a boost spike around 3,800. Disregard AFR as I did not have my WB setup in. Currently the car runs 10.7 AFR at redline on the WB. MAFV's top out at 4.36 in this log but I have seen up to 4.41 in cooler temps. How much of a difference does the STI TMIC make on this map? after briefly looking at the maps it looks like you could just pull a little timing @ high load and it would work pretty well... What kind of mileage are you running on this? What difference does the prodrive solenoid make over the stock bcs? Also, do you *need* to run the xylene? Thanks... |

Thanks for the reply, I can't say exactly how the STI TMIC helps because I have never run this turbo without it. The JDM V7 STI TMIC is the largest top mount Subaru made for the car, it has a lower pressure drop and is bigger in all dimensions than the USDM STI TMIC. Combined with the STI scoop, splitter and shroud it should provide a considerable increase in IC efficiency. Mileage? Welll I don't drive like a grandpa so I see 22-24 on average. Long highway cruises through southern VA I have seen as high as 27-28 mpg. Honestly I realized some time ago that mileage would be sacrificed in the pursuit of power. I developed this map taking some ques from a Prodrive PPP 3 ECU. I was really shocked to see the boost map and how early in the throttle boost max boost was called for. This allows the car to make max boost in every gear and it's pretty awesome. The Prodrive BCS is a favorite of mine, the biggest difference is that it allows lower duty cycles than the stock BCS with better control. It was very easy to tune boost with it and the install is plug and play unlike the GMBCS but it's much more expensive. Prodrive does not make it any more but you can get the same unit at OAKOS under the brand H.O.A. Good point about the timing, now that it's cooler no issues with knock. On hot days it runs right on the edge and that's the reason for the Xylene. The ECU would pull 2 degrees especially if I ran up through the gears from stop and go traffic. I think 3 degrees less at peak load range would be a fine all around tune, but a gallon of Xylene works wonders. Below 75 degrees OAT I don't need to use any to feel comfortable. I was planning on replacing this turbo with a PnP'd small 16G I have on the bench at home, but now I am not sure. I think I will go EWG first and see how much I like it. I've still got phenolic spacers, Pnp manifold with TGV deletes, and a Pnp Throttle body waiting to go on the car. And I found an EJ207 shortblock for $1,600...many possibilities. -soobaviator |

I have already adapted this to my ROM and I *LOVE* it.... The power is super smooth. I am about to start another thread with a highway cruising log as well as a 3rd gear pull log... ECU Edit says that this is putting down 270 tq and 218 hp and I still have some dialing in to do... Stock fuel looks to be what is holding this back. I am going to do the FPR mod and scale the injectors accordingly to try to get more out of it... I would like to do something with fuel/timing @ highway loads to get better mpg, but other than that it looks pretty good. This is a good map. |

a few things -- I would make your max rough and fine correction load range be slightly above the max load that you are seeing. for example, you have rough correction range disabled 2.85g/s... you are seeing 3g/s... therefore, you probably want to increase this value to somewhere around 3.2 or maybe 3.3 to account for those cold winter days. I would do the same for fine correction. rpm ranges look reasonable, knock sensor is crap much above 6k anyway... additionally, you might be able to lean out your fuel map at least from 1g/sec to 1.5g/sec to help spool. based upon my experience, if you ever have to run 91 oct, you might be running ~10% more timing than necessary. otherwise, very impressive loads and maf readings. |

Fine and rough correction max active loads noted. I did see 3.1 g/rev today on a 43 degree morning so the higher thresholds would provide some added protection and points to do more fine tuning. I'll have to do some playing with AFR's at the onset of boost. So far the mid high 12's feels best on the butt dyno and airboys interpolation spreadsheet. Here in VA there is no worries about the availability of 93 octane and on my runs out of the metro area pure 93 without ethanol is readily available. For the 10% ethanol 93 octane the car is tuned on those ratios seem to work well. Unfortunately it's not optimal for fuel economy at cruise. If one is running straight gasoline the leaner ratios may hotten up spool a bit. I have found that leaning in the transitional areas makes the motor prone to more transitional knock.
