0.5.1b RC4 Download!

This release candidate builds upon the RC3 release which contained OP2.0 integration. New in this release are some bug fixes and minor enhancements. Additional debug logging has been added to try and nail down certain remaining bugs that I'm unable to reproduce.

Updates include:

- Table compare bug fixed.
- Debug save mode enabled by default.
- Already running detection port changed to 50001.
- Some refactoring around serial port handling.
- Fix display of unknown rom ids.
- Add config item for logger definition location.

Note that the ecu and logger definitions are no longer included!! You need to go and get the ones you use and add them yourself! The logger now supports configuration of the location of the logger definition file - use this!

Download removed - get RC5 instead.

It now opens with Bluetooth enabled! Haven't tested logging yet, but THANKS PAUL!

Is that just for this test release or were you planning on doing this in the official release too?

Just tested logging. I have to now manually select the OP2.0 comport, which is fine. It fires right up, loads the last used profile and works great! Thanks again Paul!

Worked great for me with XP and Tactrix 1.3. I don't mind the defs and logger xml's not being included as I need to use my customized lambda files anyhow. Thanks!

Glad to hear it's working for you now. Note that when using an OP2.0 cable the logger completely ignores the COM port selected in the list - it is not needed or used. The COM port list is only relevant to the older cables.

I would be interested to see your romraider.log now if you could post it up.

I was intending to do it for all releases from now on given that there are two versions of each of the defs and that def releases rarely coincide with the application releases.

Ah, ok. How about if the logger and/or ECU defs are missing, bring up a link to the update pages for each of them (since the url for the stickies never changes)?

It would be cool if there was a way to auto update the defs -> romraider checks for new defs, asks users if they want to upgrade and if so, metric or imperial and then automatically updates. Not sure how that could be implemented.

Paul: I was able to get it working by installing and then running the apps using the "Run As Administrator". I appear to have some type of permissions issue on my laptop that prevents RomRaider from reading/writing to the Program Files directory after installation, as the settings file was never saved when I would just install and run normally as a user. Vista quirk?

You already have an update button - why not just use a simple php or xml based update system - so when you press "update definitions" it checks for the latest on the website and downloads it within romraider.

Sure beats manual download, extract, copy and paste process and it would make it 100% easier to keep up-to-date with defs.

You could also use a similar system for updating RomRaider itself.

Not so sure about leaving the defs out of the official release. Might be confusing to a lot of users and seems like a lot of extra steps. Perhaps make it a little easier by creating a default ECU and logger def selection in the definition manager of the ecu_defs.xml and logger.xml files (and only one can be selected at any given time - this behavior could be disabled to allow for multiple selections by advanced users). Even if the defs aren't included in the release, the user would only have to unzip the logger.xml and ecu_defs.xml into the RomRaider directory.

Thanks for getting the logging going for the 2.0 cable. I sucessfully downloaded this onto a laptop running Vista. Works perfect, thanks again!
