Hi Everyone. I have been quietly lurking on romraider/enginuity for about a year now. Finally got my Tactrix Cable, and got a few logs. I have been running an OTS 16G map for about a year. But will soon be making my own(hopefully with all of your help!), as soon as I get a wideband.
02 wrx Super16G, UR 38mm EWG, Walbro, PINKs. (50/50meth@~16PSI) TGV delete, P&P crossover/manifold/TB/IC Stock Airbox, ebay turbo inlet, ebay TMIC. Stromung Downpipe, highflow 3rd CAT. STI Intermediate mated to Prodrive. StreetLite Flywheel, ACT stage 2 clutch 145K on the ODO!!!
Using Airboy's HP calculator I got 286hp/285tq. It doesnt feel THAT strong, but decently quick. I also feel that I have lost alot of spool when I went from the COBB uppipe to the UR ewg uppipe(around 300 rpms). Unfortunately I dont have any previous logs to back that up. I knew from looking at the ID of the two pipes that the UR uppipe was alot larger. Only other thing I can think of is I ported my stock manifold to mate with the small ID of the Cobb uppipe, not the UR.
Can I log certain parameters to fish for a pre-turbo exhaust leak?
Im trying to make sure all mechanical issues are ironed out before I try and tune, my log should be attached.
THANKS!!!
Nick

I would drop target boost and wgdc down to about 18-19lbs till u get a wb02, thats not good knock... Otherwise raise your OL targets by .2 in higher load regions/higher rpms and see if the knock goes away...

Well. Either its broken(a piston or 2), or you're REAL lean. Your timing is waaaay low and its still pulling timing(knock).
Log AFR and IDC, and post your rom if you'd like a more in depth analysis. But its not happy.

That is a very SCARY thought, I still get around 26mpg on the highway and it runs relatively smooth(when im not getting on it). I added about .2 to the Open Loop Map in the upper load region, and turned down the boost a little(factory solenoid crapped out on me, running a MBC). For this log I included IDC and AFR.
I did just flash the computer. Does it take time for IAM to get back to 16? or is it at 12 because it is detecting knock? Are these logs a waste until my IAM gets back to 16?
I cant post the whole ROM as it is a COBB map.
EDIT: I am changing the map to start at 16 IAM, and will retake the log.

OK here is my updated log with IAM initial set at 16.
My IDC's are getting close to 90% with boost down, I guess that is an issue I need to take care of. I was under the impression the addition of meth injection would help to lower the IDC's, but I guess not until the ECU knows. Does Meth Injection tuning require changing the injector latency/flow scaling?
Currently just been running it for a little peace of mind...as I know the pinks are close to the edge for my setup.

Well, it looks like all the knock went away, so thats a good sign. If there is signifigant motor damage it will never go away.
The timing table needs some work. There should never be a time where timing is in the single digits when you have it floored. You must be lacking power in a big way in the 3000-5500 range.
I would lower the boost down to 17 just to start messing with things a little safer.
Target 13 degrees total timing for when you hit full boost and keep it around there until load starts to decrease. Then start adding timing and work towards 24 degrees at 7000 rpm. Thats still pretty conservative but its a start. If it knocks at those settings, there's probably not enough fuel.

Well, he could have 0 timing and still knock... even with no mechanical damage, lean condition or rattle of some sort... But I'm willing to bet hes leaning out...

I was able to turn down the boost and add timing across the board. I went through about 10 iterations without a single instance of knock, of adding boost and adding timing little by little. I had a rattling ebay TMIC that I had to fab brackets for, one of the brackets came loose and was rattling. I am thinking this was what was being detected as knock in my earlier logs. So I was able to go from a Peak engine load of around 2.5 to a peak load above 2.8. It felt like I picked up alot of power and thought I had plenty left, unfortunately that was not without cost. Yesterday afternoon while cruising in 3rd gear my tranny blew up. As the REX was my only transportation I need to get back on the road quickly, I dont want to replace the tranny with another same weak transmission, but dont have the dough for a 6speed swap or PPGS. I will be picking up a beater and must put the rex under a tarp until I can afford to do things right. Thanks for all the help; I will be back! Nick

sell drugs? Haha not really, my jdm Close ratio 6spd fund got transfered into I knocked up my girlfriend and then proposed to her account thats now empty...
How many miles on the 5 speed before it imploded/exploded?
I picked up a 93 integra with a broke rod for my beater when mine goes, now I just need to get motivated on the rebuild so it drives when mine goes...

I've done the same thing minus the proposing.. she's due at the end of january. Though I don't have to worry about my tranny going.. just the block

Mines due the beginning of april. I figured it was about time, 3 years, 2 dogs, 2 jobs, and now a kid on the way is probably punishment enough. So I figured I would make it permanent hell.. haha

Over 140,000 miles, and I drove it like I stole it every day! haha I am not at all surprised it blew, actually very impressed it lasted as long as it did as a "glass" tranny. I just should have been a little more prepared, and while I did have a oh **** that broke fund; it just was not enough to get everything done the way I wanted.

This is what worries me to no end when mapping out the 5MTs My own 2002 WRX went for ever on the original tranny (48k miles) even with a rotated Garrett GT32, E85 fuel, and 26psi or so every now and then. The secret to it lasting was never launching it LOL! It was making great power too as it blew through a SPEC stg 1 clutch in about 2k miles (no launching, just rolling into the throttle). And then, one day my buddy wanted to run me. I said no no no, can't do it. He kept at me and finally I said what the hell - shifting into second gear (SPEC stg 2+) the 2nd gear along with the rest rest of the trans got trashed. GL
