From the FAQ, it looks like there's a handful of books recommended for background reading on general NA and boosted engines. Are there any recommendations for Subaru specific tuning?

I would also be very interested in reading a subaru-specific tuning book.

The Greg Banish book has a fair amount of stuff that is very closely applicable to our cars, even though it is not "Subaru specific."

Great, thanks. Looks like this book has some good reviews too.

Actually, a couple of the pictures in the Banish book, and a couple of the examples, are from an 05 2.5RS.

Some pics are of the STI (not sure the year, IIRC 05), too.

I just got it a few days ago. It's a good sort of tutorial book, I just wish it had more technical information about physical modifications. IOW, it's good if you have to tune a car for common mods, but I didn't find it very useful for deciding what mods to do next or for insight for unusual mods (custom throttle body, exhaust headers, etc).

Thanks for the details.

Any suggestions on books explaining why/when to port, polish, ceramic coat, material differences for different parts (ie. cast steel vs stainless vs inconel vs unobtanium), etc.?

See the link I posted above. Forced Induction Performance has chapters on combustion chamber design, heads, cam timing and overlap, header and IM design, valves, etc. A. Graham Bell has several other somewhat overlapping books, but you may still get more info from Four-Stroke Performance as well. I'd skip his Modern Engine Tuning and stick with the Hartman or Banish books as they are more... modern.

Yeah the Banish book has quite a few pictures of Subarus, including one of Cobb ProTuner.
