Just wonder to know .anyone has started tuning MY08 wrx with the CANBUS OP2.0 cable..

I am studying the EDM WRX 2.5L Manual ,it has 4 ignition timing tables A,B,C,D and 2 additive timing advance..
Base timing A=C, B=D. Primary A (timing advance) is more aggressive than Primary additive 2.

I am assuming the logic will be abit like USDM MY07 STI, I am going to adopt this strategy..Make Base timing A=B=C=D and for the Primary-1(modified/tune), Primary-2 setting as stock ..with this I will be able to log to know under what condition the Primary -2 will be used,if only occasionally used(like cruising), will force additive 1=2 to make tuning simple.

Did you see merchgod's post on Nasioc? Not sure what it means.

Probably this kind of issue

Is it possible to flash the rom after failure with shbootmode?

There are about 4 people that have had problems with flashing the CAN ECU. I've contacted Colby but haven't heard anything back yet. Except for hmanxx's friend, this does not result in any problems as far as a dead ECU - just won't flash. The definitions have very little to with the flash process - only the flash method as defined and there's only one flash method for CAN - "subarucan" for which the defs are correct, so I'm not sure what is wrong. Maybe the latest cable firmware?

Flashed mine last night. All AOK. Found a few problems with datalogging using OP 2.0 tho, used the OP 1.3 cable that I bought for the girlfriends Liberty GT. Altho, the map wasnt different to the one that was already on there, so not too sure how valid this is?

Car is '08 WRX Australian Domestic Model.

Did you actually make any changes to the ROM? What version of Ecuflash did you use?

No. No actual changes. Will do tonight, in test mode, and see what happens.

However, look at the following log. Is the Kernel version from the actual ECU itself before the flash?

attempting to flash the same map result in no flash taking place and therefore does not tell you anything.

mdonohoe posted another simulation on test write mode..full of write failure...the problem is real..so far mostly EDM spec car reported problem..

I have colleague with AZ1C400C MY08 EDM wrx ecu.if possible, will do some test write to it and report back here..

it's not a problem isolated to EDM - USDM too.

hi i'm the guy with the MY07 EDM FXT & a bricked ecu that hmanxx & ravenhil mentioned.

i've attached some pics of my pcb here.............http://www.care2.com/c2c/photos/view/130/822070674/FXT/

you'll see in the album that i have the green connectors. these were not connected when ravenhill and i tried to flash the ecu......a friend of mine could only pull the ROM from a MY08 STI here after he had connected the green connectors.....could this be an issue?

after the 'interface closed' that ravenhil reported we tried using a laptop with vista and my carputer with xp pro (with green connectors in/out) but have had no success communicating with the ecu.

i've had the car's hardware checked......ie power supply to ecu, relays etc and everything is in order. subaru dealer's ssmII etc hardware cannot communicate with the ecu.......

i'm waiting to see if colby has any ideas which we haven't tried. :|

Yes. I'm an idiot. It did fail. Log is attached.

Flashed in TEST mode only, as I figured it was safer... Checked after this with Romraider ECU Logger, could still read ECU, car still starts.

Log attached...
