Before I describe my question, I would like to simply introduce my setting now.
My car : 2006 EDM WRX
Hardware changed :
1. HKS R-suction intake
2. TOMEI exhaust manifold
3. TOMEI uppipe
4. Stock STI downpipe
5. Fujitsubo midpipe + rear exhaust pipe
6. IHI VF36 twinscroll turbine
ECU : use stock 2006 EDM WRX rom as base map

First, I tuned my MAF as watching the very useful tool - Learning View tool.
The AFR learn range always keep in +/- 2%. I assume it's good enough hence I don't modify it as well.
Then, I would like to tune my base timing by knock event.
Also I use the useful macro to monitor my knock and watch log data directly.
I often find the random knock event in the range - engine load 0.65~1.4 and RPM 1200~2800.
The random timing event might be -1.4 or over -7.0..... fortunately, my IAM is not drop anymore.
However I pull my timing a little bit again and again. It wouldn't disappear.
I can tune the obvious knock by pulling timing when high load(such as : EL 1.5~2.5 and rpm 3200~5600) and make it disppear.
I'm confused with why those knock event happen...
I'm guessing if it's caused by AVCS, IAT too high, knock sensor too sensirtive....etc.
Too much AVCS angle make too much air into engine and cause lean AFR status???
Anyway, I still keep my Timing advance and AVCS table as stock.
I'm wondering if only me get this situation. If you also have this issue, how do you deal with it?

Thanks,
Sega

Random knock reading here aswell. Det cans dont tell me it is real knock but it will on rare occasions pull 10 degrees of timing for no reason and has done since it came from subaru.

I largely ignore it now unless it is messing with FLKC.

I agree with you on this completely, seen it many times on different cars.
