The new logger is working just fine for me now. It was time for my somewhat yearly fresh install of Windows XP anyways. I installed the new EcuFlash first, then allowed Windows to install drivers for the Tactrix (twice) once I plugged the cable in. I then ran the new logger and it works just fine.
I think my problem was that I didn't install the new EcuFlash previously and/or I had mulitiple installs of Romraider.

I installed every version I have stored on my computer and found the following results.
RR 0.50 - Logger opens! RR RC1 - Logger does not open. RR RC2 - Logger does not open. RR RC3 - Logger does not open.
I even tried enabling UAC, re-installing as Administrator on all of the other RC's and running as Admin. Nothing worked except for the old 0.50 platform. Was there a significant change into the launching of the logger from 0.50 to the RC's? I was having the same problem with my logger not loading up for the past few days, RC1-RC3 all have this problem, and then today i just deleted the start menu shortcuts and created two new shortcuts (for the logger i just added -logger) and set both to load in "normal window" instead of minimized and now i have no problem loading the logger within RR or loading the logger directly...not sure why that is because the new shortcuts i made were the same as the old ones just now i have them set to load in a "normal windows" instead of minimized ::shrugs:: not sure if that helps anyone but it fixed my problem...also not sure why that even would work since that setting shouldn't effect how the app loads but again this is windows (i'm on XP sp2 still)

The app is killed, I can see the loading screen but it dies after that.

The installer doesn't work properly on my XP system. I get to the selection screen sucessfully. I can chose base, ecu defs, source click next and the program shows a blank screen. Any ideas?
EDIT:
Solved my problem. IzPack didn't like my TEMP variable pointing to a different drive letter. Bug in IzPack, this shouldn't have been a problem.

Dont suppose anyone has a copy of RC2. Ive tried installing RC3 but the logger does not work, if i download RC1 it works fine and the last version RC2 worked aswell but it has now been removed due to the release of RC3 which will not work?

************ I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM AND THE LOGGER NOW WORKS!!!! *************** For some reason I started looking at my Dell Bluetooth 360 adapter settings and remembered a long time ago there were some issues with other programs. On the side of my Dell Latitude D830 there is a "Switch" that can turn on/off the Wireless and Bluetooth internal cards. First attempt I switched off Both, ran the logger and it fired up immediately. Second attempt I disabled only Bluetooth, fired RIGHT up! Here is a screenshot of the settings using the Dell "Quickset" tool. I suspect that with Bluetooth on there is a COM Port issue with whatever RR uses to search COM Ports as well. Now just have to wait for the ECU DEFS and I'm a happy camper!

Yes, I notice this problem on my computer as well. I am using a USB bluetooth dongle to communicate with my mobile phone. The logger will fail to start once the bluetooth is enabled with a virtual com port. If I remove the virtual com port, the logger works perfectly. ev8siv3 wrote: ************ I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM AND THE LOGGER NOW WORKS!!!! ***************

Actually effects the virtual com ports provided by my wifi setup as well. No problem on USB/standard com ports, its just when you start getting into the wireless virtual com port stuff that seems to prevent the logger from loading. RC1 worked fine with these ports.

Slightly OT -- Regardless of the Dell Quickset Utility settings or the position of the wireless switch, I can't get RC3 and my 1.3 cable to connect on my new Inspiron 1525. Mine doesn't even have BlueTooth. It's a fairly basic model that I had hoped would get me going again painlessly Learning View works fine, as does LogWorks3 with my LC-1. ev8siv3, do you still have a distributable of RC2 available that I could test?
