The ROM in the first post has the same CID as the one posted at http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?p=18941#18941, described as a US 2007 manual FXT. How could someone not know their car's model year? Or, did Subaru carry a CID across model years for the first time?

I haven't found any pattern in the ROM (or ECU id) to determine model year. I wish there was as I can only go by what users tell me. The JDM Forester STi is the only model, based on what users are claiming their MY to be, in which the same cal id appears to cover multiple years (04-07).

We need a Subaru parts guy to look up the part numbers for the 2007 and 2008 FXT ECUs and tell us whether they are the same. I have a suspicion that Subaru froze the calibrations for US 2008 Foresters at the 2007 levels. The third page at http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/reprogramming_pack_listing.pdf suggests they did that for the normally aspirated 5MT models, and it also suggests there might be different CIDs for US and Canada 2008 normally aspirated Foresters.

That is interesting. Not sure it matters much, though, other than having the correct year shown in RR (07/08).

Might as well submit it - could be a different revision even if it is the same model/year.
