I have noticed that some people are changing the interpolate on the maf scale tool in increments of 5. What does the interpolate actually do? Why do they change it? I know it sounds like a real noob question but I am just trying to figure out how it works. Thanks

The Interpolate function takes the scattered data points and creates a smooth line. The drop-down box gives the polynomial order for the equation that will be used to generate that line.

The developer who created the library used in RomRaider for that data smoothing wrote this article.

Check it out if you think mathematics is fun. If not, pick a number that you like and stick with it. To be honest, I don't know why someone would use other than the default setting, except just to "see what happens".

I will sometimes change the polyorder to pick what appears to me to be the better line. If I am scaling someones MAF, I don't always have the time I would like to get a complete MAF scaling run and will just get 'enough data' and use different polyorders to see the best results.

Even with lots of data points, the default poly order number may not be the best choice. Play with different values and use the one that provides the best fit for the range of maf voltages that you are scaling.

The default value is usually pretty close, but other values may get you closer.
