I am having issues with connecting to the ECU. I am using my AP v1 cable with a serial/USB connector. I only have COM3 available in the drop down menu. is there something I am missing? can someone please help me out, I need to get some logs to my tuner.

that's likely a driver issue. Make sure you are installing the correct drivers for the serial to usb converter. Go to the manufacturer's site and DL the latest.

The adapter did not come with any seperate drivers. All i got was the cable. I am told by others that I can't do anything because I have Vista.

I would try to figure out the manufacturer and model number of the converter and see if you can DL the drivers for Vista online.

Is there a reason I only have COM3 as a choice in the drop down menu in RomRaider? My COM3 is the expansion port to connect to a docking station. My USB's are COM1, COM2 and COM6, but I can't select a different port in the program.

with your converter plugged in, go to device manager -> ports and see what com port shows up. If its not there, then you have a driver issue.

I have Vista and there is no "ports" menu. It just isn't there like it was in XP.

it won't appear if there's no device. Your problem is almost certainly the converter. Try a name brand one (like Belkin) that is supported in Vista. Best Buy used to carry these.

does RomRaider support Mac's? I think I might be better off using the Macbook if it does. I talked to the Tech support at HP, and they tried, couldn't figure it out, called Microsoft and found out you can't manually set port numbers in Vista like you could in XP. It's all automatic. I am supposed to have a list of COM ports to select in RomRaider, not just one choice, correct?

romraider can't do anything about missing or improperly installed drivers. If you can't find the drivers for vista for your converter then that is your problem. Either try to find them online, get a new converter that you know has drivers for Vista, or the better option would be to get a tactrix cable. Those are your choices - using a mac is a waste of time.

Is this still the deal? I have a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 and I'm on a Mac. I can run the RomRaider Linux version and everything displays correctly, but when I try to do live logging, it's never able to connect to the ECU. I started using the Mac version because I was getting errors with the Windows version.

I saw some things re: FTDI drivers, and I do have this installed for several other of my projects that use the FTDI chip....do I need to remove these, switch them, etc? I can't tell from the forums which information is still relevant.

Next question: has anyone tried using this on an ARM-architecture Linux distro? This is my target application (beagleboard).

Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!

I'll reply to myself here...I've discovered that the Linux version of RR and the Logger do not support OpenPort 2.0.

I'll post findings as I dig deeper. I really need to get OP2.0 working with Linux on an ARM architecture.

i had the same problem. i reinstalled my driver for serial/usb cord. pluged it all in started the car and was able to select com 1 on the drop down menu. as along as the drive is working it should see it and give you an option on the com select.
