RomRaider encounters an exception everytime I try to use it, and will not let me open a ROM. ECUflash works just fine, and I can edit tables within it, but not with romraider. Also, the logger does not appear to work either. I doesn't reponse when asked where it's putting my log files, nor allow me to change where they go (because I can't even get that far!) Any help for me? Thanks! -Matt

What OS are you using? And did you install the latest version of Java?

Also, what version of RomRaider are you using? The more information you provide the more likely you'll get a useful response.

I have the latest version of Java (installed last week), and RomRaider v0.5.0b, installed last week as well. I have tried using it with the built-in definitions, and with the newest def's replacing the built-in ones. -Matt

ok, JUST IN CASE, I re-installed Java last from their website, and uninstalled, then re-installed RomRaider. The screen comes up fine, but when I click "open ROM," it pops up the exception, same as before. Rather frustrating, I say. I can't even get going! -Matt

What OS? Also, what is the exception? There should be a log file in the main installation directory also. That should have some information (details of the exception) that would help diagnose this problem.

I'm running windows XP SP2, and I'll check the log when I get home and have access to my personal computer. Hopefully we can get this worked out! -Matt

Alrightly then, I brought my machine to work with me today. The "romrader.log" file didn't have anything in it, so here's what the "C:\Program Files\RomRaider\log4j.properties" said: Quote: log4j.rootLogger=info, stdout, file
log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=%-5r %-5p [%t] - %m%n
log4j.appender.file=org.apache.log4j.FileAppender log4j.appender.file.File=romraider.log log4j.appender.file.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.file.layout.ConversionPattern=%-5r %-5p [%t] - %m%n Also, the other direct problem I've encountered is that when I press Ctrl+O ( Log File Output location), nothing happens, and "Error:java.lang.NullPointerException" pops up in red on the bottom bar. Perhaps the two are related? -Mateo

I'm running late (as usual) this morning, and need to get to work, so apologies for the brief message. I don't think that properties file is much help. Try setting the User Level to 5 (Debug) and trying again. That should give more information. At least I hope it will.
