I downloaded 0.5.0b and noticed that I do not see a log item for the Ignition Advance Multiplier. The only ignition option I see relates to Ignition Total Timing.

Is it called something else? Is there something I need to activate?

I did a search and didn't see a problem like this.

It is an extended parameter and if your rom revision is not supported, it will not appear. That is, your specific rom revision has to have been uploaded by someone before and manually added for extended parameter support to the logger defs in the past.

Make sure you are actually connected to the ECU - the extended parameters will not appear until you do so since they are ECU specific.

Thanks for the info merchgod. I have another problem. I attached my laptop to my OBD port via the USB cable but the logger won't allow me to change the port from COM1. I did a search for this problem on the board but no luck. Any suggestions?

sounds like a driver issue. make sure you are using the correct driver for the cable you are using.

I don't think its a cable problem as I am able to read the ECU ROM using ECUFlash .

Tried starting RomRaider after connecting the cable with no luck. The cable is detected by Windows as I can see it in Device Manager listed under the USB Controllers.

I'm stomped. :(

what com port does it show in device manager?

Try using learning view with the cable plugged in (before you start it) and see if the port shows up in the list as a test.

The cable does not show up as a com port in device manager. It appears as a USB device without a com port.

It doesn't show up under ports at all as I only cee COM1. Other serial applications I have on the machine recognize the cable as a serial device and display its status as such.

Still sounds like a driver issue. Ecuflash uses a different means of transmitting/receiving data than RomRaider (which is why Ecuflash only works with the tactrix cable), so it still possible there's a problem even if Ecuflash works. I would uninstall Ecuflash, uninstall all openport/tactrix drivers from add/remove programs, restart, reinstall Ecuflash. The cable should show up under ports in device manager when connected ("OpenPort blah blah blah (COM5)", for example).

Try learning view (dl from tuning discussion forum sticky) and see if it is in the port list (connect cable before running).

RomRaider uses the virtual COM port correct?

You should see "OpenPort VCP Driver COM#" under ports.

I've actually had some issues with this after the 1.35 release. I don't regularly use RomRaider to log, though.

Yes, RomRaider uses the virtual com port. Perhaps it is an issue with 1.35 - I haven't tried it yet. Maybe the original poster installed 1.35 over an older version?
