Hello Everybody,
after weeks of reading and days of flashing, I finally managed to reach something what I would call acceptable for my needs.
Background:
My 03 EDM WRX wagon has a gutted DP and an aftermarket rear silencer. It runs on European 98 octane gas (AFAIK this should be comparable to US 93 octane?).
I used to drive it with an electronic boost controller (BLITZ Dual SBC) which gave quite an extra push in the midrange. Nevertheless, there were two main disadvantages. One being the fact that you had to decide for either big boost in the midrange to a cost of limited rpm (due to injector DC > 100%) or high revs but only moderate increase in boost. The other one is the fact that you always need to readjust the EBC to accomplish for changes in temperature, altitude, day of the week... making this car impossible to drive for "standard" users.
So, to make a long story short:
- removed CEL/DTC 0420 (cat efficiency beyond threshold)
- multiplied max. timing advance by 1.3 for 1,95g/rev - 2800rpm onwards
- adjusted boost to 1,17bar (17PSI), falling from 4600rpm onwards to 13,8 PSI at 6000rpm
- adjusted initial and max. Wastegate Duty to match the higher target boost
- adjusted Turbo Dynamics:
at -0.107bar boost error from -3.0 to -4.0
at +0.213bar boost error from 8.0 to 6.0 (reduce boost spikes)
- multiplied open loop fuel table by
1.06 for 1.95g/rev to 2.2 g/rev from 2800rpm to 6400
1.04 for 1,80g/rev from 3600rpm
- Enabled Catalyst Readiness Threshold Fix F
- Enabled Catalyst Readiness Threshold Fix F2
- Increased Closed Loop Base Fueling Target from 14,47 (initial) to 14,55
As you can see, I only tuned for WOT, which is OK for me.
The result is quite good, from what i can tell; 62 to 100mph (GPS, not speedo) in 7.6s; 62 to 124mph in 17.5s (stock value was 22s).
I know there might be some room for improvement, especially by leaning out towards mid- and top-end. Anyway, any comments are more than welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Dennis
