I cant find anywhere on that web site to buy them or how much they cost? I see a download for source code, but not a physical computer.

too much. They were supposed to be $200 laptops, but it kept inflating and inflating. The specs on the cheapest model are just too low. The price of solid state HD's might have something to do with it.

And it was supposed to be $100 per for the OLPC

Nope what? Eee PC and OLPC are NOT the same thing. And YES, the original goal of the OLPC was $100 USD per unit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OlpcAnyone besides LGT-3-6? His thoughts on the cost of the OLPC are interesting; I am concerned with the Asus Eee PC.

I dont see any reason why you could not use one with romraider. I dont remember if it says it has a a use port but that or a serial port is nessecary. Other than that, its just a small, slower than normal computer.

Mainly wondering if once you get XP up and fully going, if there are adequate resources to run Java apps like RomRaider -- especially ones that might leak memory from time to time I am interested in one for a few reasons. My Dell XPS of ~2006 vintage is getting a bit long in the tooth, and as far as serving as an ECU flasher and logging device, it's heavy and unwieldy compared to something like an Eee PC. My Dell requires too much power to run off of a 12v adapter; I have to run an inverter and carry the AC adapter. I can see the Eee being 12v powerable and perhaps even windshield/window mountable with some kind of suction cup platform.

Not unlike the optimus keyboard that was supposed to be "around the cost of a cell phone". They didn't say cell phone in 1985..

Of the 4 models on thier web site, 3 of them have 512MB of ram, and the other has 1GB of ram. Now compare that to PCs and Laptops of a few years ago running XP when they first came out. Now imagine running a Java app on them. It should not be a problem as long as you dont load it up with other apps that will take up lots of memory.

Thanks for the links Jon. I had only seen the more recent thread. The size looks enticing, can actually have it sitting on your lap without inferring with the steering wheel Still interested to hear feedback if anyone on here is using one!

I've got an Eee PC that's still running Linux. I tried the last Enginuity release and it didn't recognize anything on the Tactrix cable. I haven't gone to XP, and am currently thinking I won't. I think I need to do a custom kernel for Linux, and, if I get some time, will try to get that working.
