k i know i'm kinda slow on the uptake but.....
just wondering about the best way to use enginuity through my macbook?

I'm brand new to mac and don't have a clue what will work or not. and this is one program i'm not ready to just try and see where it goes?

It works, just download the linux version and extract it and launch it.

The program will load, but I can't get it to detect the OBD2 cable. How do I get the program to see the cable?

Under Leopard, it won't work. The chipset vendor won't make drivers that work under 10.5. So we have to wait and hope the OpenPort 2.0 cable works better under OS X.
