The AFR Learning A might indicate a small leak near or before your front O2 sensor. I would take off the plastic shield and look for soot marks on the exhaust manifold joints.

BTW, I forgot to ask: should I worry about this? Does that mean I'm running too lean and ECU has to add lots of fuel?

Thanks.

IF it is caused by a leak, then it means it is a false reading sent to the ecu. The ecu will add additional fuel so your true AFR will be less than 14.7 (richer) at idle. At anything more than idle, the flow is usually high enough to generate a positive pressure in the exhaust manifold. Only at low MAF, will there be a slight vacuum in the exhaust manifold sucking in air from outside.

An easy way to check this is to log idle. Log MAP direct and IPW direct and AFR and fuel trims. Then compare it to another LGT in your area (same fuel) to determine if it is a false reading or a MAF error.

hmm... is there any other possible reason if it's not leak? If so, I can check them all at once. BTW, I installed the AVO drop in filter a month ago and I'm just wondering whether or not a drop in filter can cause this for some reasons.

If the air filter is not properly seated or if the air box is not clamped tight with all the latches, it will cause AFR learning to skew and possibly even throw P0171. However, I don't remember if it skewed it positive or negative.

Logging MAP, load, trims, and IPW direct etc... will tell you if it is the MAF that is in error or if there is extra air introduced near the O2 sensor.

Ok weird problem. I downloaded .net just to run learning view. It worked great for a few weeks. Then learning view crashed everytime I opened it. I reinstalled it, but no change. I then uninstalled and reinstalled .net and it worked fine. Now a few weeks later it happened again. I don't think there is any issue with the learning view tool. I think it's my computer. Any ideas what to do, other than keep reinstalling everything every couple weeks?

That's odd. I would try uninstalling all versions of .net through add/remove programs, including hotfixes, then restart, then reinstall 2.0, then go to windows update after a restart and see if there are any critical updates.

OK. I'll try to do some loggings this weekend.

BTW, should I log WOT, idle, or normal driving?

I think we're cluttering this thread. Start another one.

Log idle and slow speed constant throttle in a parking lot (walking speed).

I forgot to mention to also log MAF.

I don't know much about the whole .net 2.0 program and won't pretend I do. But it had a major crash the second time. I couldn't even get the the uninstaller to work. I had to go into regedit and manually remove all the files. I read up on it a little and there is .net 3.5 out now. I installed that instead and the learning view tool runs fine with it. I guess I'll give it some time and see how it goes. The issue is with my machine, your software runs just fine, thanks for writing it, it helps me a lot tuning.

You could probably tweak your MAF scaling 10-50g/s slightly if you want, but other than that it looks good.

How long since the last ECU reset? I suggest driving it a good week before considering it good and accurate. The longer the more accurate.

I can't seem to get past this error on my laptop:

Image
" The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application. "

My laptop was recently reinstalled XP SP2 so there isn't much on there besides EcuFlash, EcuEdit, RomRaider, wireless drivers, etc. I installed .NET 2.0 from post #1 as well and I'm up to date on all my windows updates except I do not have IE7. Any idea what might cause this?

edit: Alright, I reinstalled .net again and it seems to be working. Maybe it was doing windows updates after I installed .net.

^^^ Your learned corrections look fine, though it doesn't appear to have been very long since your last reset. Idle trims will fluctuate a bit and the general consensus is to error towards rich (negative trims), like what your car is showing.

Thats correct, just flashed with xpt stage 2 gmbc three days ago, I was just a bit concerned with the minus figures.
So nothing to worry about then? I thought I may have to rescale my maf or something else.

Regards
