Good evening to all :)

I've always a PO420 error,
i was thinking to fix it with a mechanical fix or via Software, with RomRaider or an hex editor.
What do You think is better, mechanical or software?

Thanks

I fixed mine with RomRaider. I kept getting CELs still as resistors burnt out and such, and I think if we have the means to do it through the ECU there's no reason not to.

Hello,

Thanks to ev8siv3 I have the new rom and the XML def ,
i open it with enginutiy and see under Cel Fix these value:

259 and 1056
to disable the PO420 i must change:

259 in 261
1056 in 0 ???
Then i can save it and upload it to my ecu ready...right??

thanks

now when you do that fix does the odbII show readiness for the cats etc.? also i can't get rid of a P0037 code which makes the odbII show incomplete for cats. and rear o2 sensor status... would it show ready if i just turned them off with RomRaider? sorry for the highjacking of your thread btw

Yes. As I understand it, your moving the values that trigger the CEL to higher values making it impossible for the 02 sensor to set of the CEL or (Not Show readiness).

so apparently when you disable the code "p0037" it doesn't allow you ODB-II to go into the ready state, and you fail... or at least i do lol. Anyone got any ideas? i was thinking maybe changing the thresholds to so it just can't see it as too low of a voltage...

John there are 3 parameters in your ecu, if it is A4SE700D or A4SE900D

Cat threshold 1 fail below
stock value is 153, change that to 0

Cat threshold 2 fail above
stock value is 65535, leave that as is

Cat threshold 3 fail below
stock value is 31, change that to 0

if you feel brave enough you can try this to change these values and reflash it.
It should eliminate all catalyst efficiency related Pxxxx codes and cel's
