I tried and tried to find the problem but can not fix it in anyway

It happends just a few minutes after I drive around. Seems to be ok if I idle my car stationary. I noticed that it often freezes when I apply the throttle quickly or lift off quickly.

Checked all plugs and they are nice and tight...

Is it possible that I have wrong Tactrix driver?

I need a clean install but I cant uninstall my old FTDI USB SErial Converter driver. In the "Add or Remove hardware" it just wont let me.

And if I uninstall it from device manager, next time i plug the Tactrix in, it will install the driver automatically! I dont understand why cant i delete it from my computer

I use 1.3.0 to read and write to my ECU. All work fine...

The problem just happends only when I use the logging program

My laptop is IBM R40 running Window XP SP2 RAM512MB

I tried to close NOD32 antivirus before openning the Logging program but that doesn't help.

I really need your help to diagnose what is wrong with my system.

I can't go on tuning with this problem

Turn off the hard drive shock protection. the computer is getting bumped and stopping the logger when the HD shuts down.

Control panel, then "think vantage active protection" at least thats what its called on my T series. you can switch it off, or turn the shock sensor sensitivity down.

Does it un-freeze about every 10 seconds, for about 1-2 seconds, before freezing again?
That's what mine does on one of my laptops. Not sure what the deal is.

i was having this problem with my cable as well. the thing that i did to fix it was opened up the obd2 plastic connector and there is a non-shielded wire that would short out on the logic board...put some electrical tape around the wire and all is fixed. dont know if that will help anyone else but figured i would put it out there.

i have tried two cables and the problem persists. i have an openport 1.0 and 1.3U. I guess I could try my cable in someone else's car to see if the problem persists.

wrxtunr - interesting!

Which one are you talking about?

Do you mean open up the OBDII end of the Tactrix cable? or the OBDII port that came with the car?

And How to pry it open?

I am getting the same problem now.

The thing is it has never cut out with ST while logging with the tactrix cable.

Guys,

I have an update.

I think I found the cause of the problem on my system. It is because my OBDII connector is a little loose...

After my logger got freezed, I tried rocking my OBDII connector back and forth using very light force. Watching the laptop screen while rocking, I saw the logger re-connectted and those numbers on the logger screen start moving again.

You can check yours to see if this is your cause of the problem.

Once I found out about this cause, my logger hardly freezes up since then.

Hello,
I had the same problem with my carputer and logging in RomRaider turned out to be my bluetooth device. So if you have bluetooh enabled you might want to try disabling and try logging again, Hope this helps?
