Some of you may have read my post about downloading maps from early model Kawasaki ZX-12s. It turns out that the early Hayabusa uses a very similar model of Denso ECU (Denso 112100-0750) that can be reprogrammed using the same method used on the ZX-12.

Here is a very basic definition for the ECU (Suzuki 32920-24FD0)

File comment: Zip contains 32920-24FD0.bin and definition file Busa004.xml
Bin is from ECU marked

great job. I don't know much about bikes, but I think it is cool that people have an option to do their own tuning with what you've developed. Are there are a lot of gains to be had?

Well off the bat removing the 186mph (300kmh) top speed restriction and being able to up the RPM redline is a big deal. Most of those interested are drag racing or going for top speed in the measured mile. Their engines have big bore kits, new cranks and rods and they really need to up the max RPM

The work around at the moment is to have the ECU cut open and replace the crystal with one that is 5% faster which ends up increasing the RPM limit by 5% as rotation per minutes actually become rotations per 57.4 seconds. They pay $200 to $300 to have this done.

Currently a lot of power increase is available using the Power Commander, a piggy back unit that has its own map used to stretch the stock injector pulse a given amount depending on throttle and rpm. The problem is by the time you hack a Power Commander into your wire harness, add the ignition advance sub module and etc, etc. you've got a lot of crap to try and cram on that little bike. It becomes a reliability issue.

Also it turns out the ECU has an A/B map select adjustable on the fly. The nitrous guys would really love to have on and off the nos maps. The trick they use now is to fake the water temp sensor when they go on the nos to make the bike think its running cold and richen the mixture. Of course this has its limits.

Damn, sounds like a reflash will be light years beyond what those guys are doing now.

You do have to have some balls to go 190 mph on a bike, though.

I own a 2005 Hayabusa. Please post or email me (gabyclassmr2@hotmail.com) some links about this reflash method for the Bike.
