I've been browsing through this site, openecu.org the scooby knowledge base site and some of the other tuner sites, and have still yet to find a concise tutorial on the steps one would go through to tune a car. I guess what I am looking for is what steps one would go through to get a nice safe tune, in an easy to read kind of way. Something that someone with next to no tuning experience could start with. I know all of you guys who tune had to start somewhere, and I was just wondering if there was an online place to do so. I definetly want to get into this, but am feeling a bit over my head when it comes to reading through some of the posts and such. Thanks very much for any info anyone can give.

JH

p.s. I'm gonna be ordering the tactrix cable shortly and should have a ROM for a AP stage 2 for an 04 shortlyafter I get it. -jh

So the general idea to tuning is?

1) download ROm using ECUFLASH or ECUEXPLORER
2) Get ECU XML definition
3) Open in Enguinity to make changes then save back HEX file
4) Use back ECUFLASH or ECUEXPLORER to write back image to ECU.

Bingo! Step 5) Datalog changes to ensure safe tune.

Yeah, they should both support it. What year is the car?
