In the Legacy, there is the Eco & Normal/Sports mode. Why do the def. reference them as A & B terms?

Is there a reason for this?

It is so easy for anyone to identify them by those names than A & B.

Not sure what you mean by Eco & Normal/Sports mode. Are you talking about SI drive?

The 2003+ to 2004/2005 had this option. Its a button.

just like the Si modes, where the maps definitions are very important.

A, B, C is not helpful at all. lol

I know the usdm models do not have this. If you can let me know which markets (jdm/edm/adm) and years specifically have this as an option I can look into it.

Really. Woow.

Ok, I know the JDM has it for sure for those years.

Let me identify the roms for you.

2003 (Eco/Normal or Sports)
a2wd001a - 2003 JDM
A2WD010G - 2004 JDM
a2zj600b - 2003 JDM
A2ZJ601A - 2003 JDM
a2zjd00b - 2003 JDM

I am not sure if non JDM, like the EDM has it.

No prob. I just say I would just hightlight that for those with those models, if there wanted to tune.

So are there 3 settings - Eco, Normal, Sport or 2 settings Eco/Normal and Sport? Cause there's only 2 maps per transmission. I can see where the Target Boost is much lower in one of the maps compared to the other.

If there are 3, then perhaps it uses a portion of each map for normal mode. I'll have to look at this further in IDA.

There are 2.

Eco and Normal. But normal can be called Sport.

Ok. Looked at it a bit. It progressively ramps between the two maps depending on the mode selected. With the latest logger defs you can log 'map ratio A' and the behavior will be as follows:

Final target = (Map A Target * (1.0 - Map Ratio A Multiplier)) + (Map B Target * Map Ratio A Multiplier)

So, if map A is currently being used, the 'map ratio' will be 0 (Eco). If the mode is changed, it will then ramp up from 0 to 1 and then effectively map B (sport/normal) will be used. Between 0 and 1, and portion of each map is used. This is the same logic we've already known but a lot of ecus don't use it and typically are always running the same map.

I know that there is a button.

I have only driving one before and had problems with it. Driving sligtly agressive in an auto, the car would not go into normal mode.

There were instants where it will change, even when auto was seletect. I am not sure if this is the general behaviour, but your logging, it seems so.

I know the twin turbo legacies is based on load.

The next time I am around a legacy, I will logged it and see.

The mode switch I talked about was based just on a bit check, which could be anything. I just assumed it was based solely off of the dash switch. If you can get some logs of 'map ratio A' and try to determine when it switches in 'auto' mode (that is, load based? throttle based?) then I might be able add some definitions so you can modify its behavior.

No problem.

I have to travel soon to a few customers and if I can get hold of a 2003+ Legacy, I will let you know.

But what I will be working on are 2001-2003 legacies. Those are twin turbo's.

So if you have anything to work with them that you need testing, let me know. The tuning will be rough, since I can only spend 2 days and I have to carry the cars through different terrain to make sure all is well, since some of my customers like stage 1 with a touch of R :)

Ok. I will keep you posted.

I haven't yet messed with the TT LGTs, but plan to in the future probably.

While I got you here, I was wondering if you could explain the model year scheme for non-usdm. It seems that when users request rom support sometimes they say they have an "01/02" or "03/04" instead of 01, 02, 03, or 04. Are some models carried over without any changes and are considered "01/02" models and "03/04" models?

I treat it all as a version.

For instant, just like how cars are release, a early 2001 version can go for a mid 2001 early 2002. Sometimes even a mid 2002.

In the JDM market, you almost guarranty a 2003 may have 2002 rom or early 2003 version, a at least 2 version change that year.
