On the latest '04 WRX ROM, why can't I adjust the temp scale on the Timing Compensation/ Coolant Temp map but I can on an '06 STI ROM for instance?

Should be obvious but did you check the user level setting?
All the displayed tables are locked/unlocked by that...

Because the 16bit ecus use a start and increment value to determine some axes so there is no individual value to edit like there is with the 32bit ecus. So, if you had a 2d table of 16 elements, the axis would be defined by only two values - what value the axis starts at, and how each following value is incremented.

The values are static and not stored in the 16 bit ECUs.

No, they are stored in the 16 bits ECU as Merchgod says ;)

The whole axis definition is not directly available, only the start value and the increment but both can be modified to fit your need.

Doh! He posted that while I was typing. :) I just looked at the definition to determine that. So half of my statement is true -- they are static, at least in the definition.

This is something I'll need to look in to for the new definition format.
