2007 LGT specB and I used to be able to log with enginuity sporadically at best...it would find the ECU, allow a couple of logs and then spaz between reading and not being able to find the ECU. Then it just flips me off and says it can't find the ECU.

So I upgraded my laptop with more RAM. That didn't help.

I un & reinstalled programs and drivers. That didn't help.

I bought a newER laptop and upgraded RAM from the get go. That didn't help.

I updated Java and downloaded RomRaider. Now it won't even find my ECU.

I just want to log. That's it. I got the pretty little blue OBD2 <--> USB cord off AutoNostics on eBay that people suggested on LGT.com, have an IBM thinkpad R51 with 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2GB ram, 33GB HDD, 1.6Ghz on the clock....I think I've got the computing power to handle logging  .

Why, oh why won't this work?

EDIT: oh yeah, the laptop is DEDICATED for this purpose alone....so there are no games no other apps (except office, adobe reader, java, anti-virus and firewall)

and yes, I've futzed around with the cable settings to see if there is any improvement. nothing.

crappy or incorrect drivers most likely. Try to find the mfg's site and see if they have drivers for your OS. That is the problem with these cheap cables.

this is the cable I have. Doesn't look like any means for updating drivers. I didn't get any software with the cable....but I didn't need any to get it to work haphazardly in the first place.

I guess what I don't get is that it works (barely) with enginuity, but not RR.

Ok, I missed the part about it working with Enginuity before. If this is really a piggyback on the factory ecu, you shouldn't have an issue with logging. You could remove the piggyback temporarily just to be sure. Problems with cheap cables are frequent, usually due to driver issues. See if you can find updated drivers for your OS online.

what piggyback? :?: I don't have any piggyback....it's not even Stage 1 (yet  ).

Stock ECU (for all intents and purposes) and I just want to log.

So I went to Autonostic's webpage and read that their cable has conflicts with ZoneLabs firewall software, so I disabled it on my laptop, and also disabled my anti-virus too.

Now, neither enginuity OR romraider will "see" my ECU, let alone read it or log from it.

argh! I am not spending $170 on a cable if other 07 Legacy (GT or OBXT) owners are logging to their hearts content with non-Tactrix cables.

The LED at the OBD2 plug end lights up on the VAG cable and I'm selecting the correct port number and nothing.

From what I can see there are no drivers on Autonostics website. Please, someone enlighten me if I'm not looking in the correct place(s).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the 07 LGT was a CANBUS and that is not yet supported by Romraider's Logger. I know the openport2.0 cable isn't yet supported.

the old tactrix cable will log a CAN vehicle. The OP 2.0 is what is not supported in RR yet for logging at all.

So you could log with a 1.3 and flash with a 2.0.
